From Being a Green Card Holder to a US Citizen
For many immigrants to the United States, it can very amazing to visit our land and be a witness to the wonders of the free world, but many who come here are just not content until they make the full jump from U.S. visitor to U.S. citizen, and trade their green card for a United States ID. Within a matter of time, they and their families will be fully embraced into our society and seen as members of the greatest nation on Earth. This is a dream many foreigners would do anything for.
All of our ancestors were too, at one point, immigrants coming to this land in order to fulfill a dream, whether to achieve religious freedom, escape brutal dictatorships, or just to live in a land where all people are equal and to make a living in a land of prosperity. All of the immigrants of our own generation should be treated with the respect that we would wish to be treated with, for one day our own relatives were in the same boat (literally) and were seeking out something better for their families in the same manner. It is a dream that we can all share in.
