Apple Profits Soar As iPhone Covers 75% Of Entire Cellphone Profit Share
Though Apple isn’t the leading cell-phone maker of the world, it makes both profits & sales that put it on the top firmly.
Apple holds only approximately 9% of the entire cell-phone market of the world. Besides, the company raked in 75% of last quarter’s industry-based profits, according to Horace Dediu, an Asymco analyst.
The analysis also revealed that Samsung holds 16% of the profit pie, whilst RIM covers 3.7%, HTC 3%, & Nokia 1.8%. To sum up, the profit pie covers around $15 billion for the last quarter of 2011.
Possessing a heavy demand for iPhone 4S, Apple also retained the top position in the cell-phone sales, capturing almost 40% of the overall revenue of the industry. On the other hand, Samsung held the 2nd place with 25% of all sales where as Nokia & RIM covers 12.6% & 8% respectively, according to the calculations Dediu.
Furthermore, HTC holds for 5.5% of entire cell-phone sales, Motorola takes up 4.4%, & Sony Ericsson covers 2.7%.
